On June 30, Big V Property Group and The Seitz Group broke ground on Rosamond Town Center at the southeast corner of Rosamond Parkway and U.S. Highway 75. That start came nearly a year ahead of the developer's original schedule. Across town, the restaurant and entertainment corner the City of Anna announced for Highway 5 and Seventh Street was supposed to start construction in early 2026. That window has passed, and as of early October we have found no public report of a groundbreaking.
In Anna right now, the most reliable date on any project is the day equipment shows up. Measured that way, almost all of the momentum sits in one place along US 75, and a handful of announced openings deserve more caution than the headlines suggest.
The Corridor That Beat Its Own Calendar
Rosamond Town Center is big. Local Profile reported in June that the open-air center will add more than 355,000 square feet of retail. It is meant to anchor a larger 750,000-square-foot retail district taking shape in Anna. The named anchors are Academy Sports + Outdoors, Aldi, Burlington, EOS Fitness, Hobby Lobby, HomeGoods, PetSmart and T.J. Maxx, plus more shops, restaurants and outparcels.
The more telling detail is the timing. Big V chairman and CEO Jeffrey Rosenberg described the start this way:
"We're delighted that this new, much-needed project to serve a growing submarket of Dallas is continuing so rapidly, with Rosamond Town Center beginning construction nearly one year ahead of our original schedule."
Next door is Rosamond Crossing, a 175,300-square-foot center anchored by Kroger. Local Profile described it as under construction in June, with Bank of America and McDonald's expected to start construction soon. Sport Clips has also filed for a space at 2549 Rosamond Parkway, Suite 105, with construction completion listed for December 2026. The franchisee hasn't given an opening timeline.
The corridor list kept growing over the summer. The Anna EDC's July 2026 newsletter announced that a Target had been approved by both the EDC and City Council for the Rosamond Parkway and US 75 corridor. No construction date has been published for it yet.
Sprouts Moved Its Dates Back a Season
Even in the fastest-moving corridor, the dates can shift. Sprouts Farmers Market is coming to the same US 75 and Rosamond Parkway corner, and the two public descriptions of the project, published about six weeks apart, don't match.
| Anna EDC newsletter, July 2026 | City of Anna release, Aug. 29, 2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Store size | More than 20,000 sq. ft. | 23,256 sq. ft. |
| Construction start | Summer 2026 | Dec. 7, 2026 |
| Finish line | Grand opening projected summer 2027 | Target completion Sept. 24, 2027 |
| Investment | Not stated | $4,940,000, ground-up build-to-suit |
The newer release is more specific and more recent, so it's the one to plan around. Two things stand out. First, the start date is now about nine weeks away, in early December, instead of sometime this past summer. Second, the end date is described as a construction completion, not a grand opening. The city hasn't published an opening date, so the December 7 start is the first Sprouts date anyone can check in person.
The Corner at Highway 5 and Seventh Street
Downtown Anna's big announcement came on July 17, 2025. The city described a $10 million project with GTP Food Group, LLC at the southwest corner of Highway 5 and Seventh Street. Plans call for three restaurants, The Gin, Papa Gallo's Mexican Grill and Margarita Bar, and Tenders Smokehouse, along with a beer garden, a live-music stage and a community patio. Construction was expected in early 2026, with the restaurants opening in early 2027.
The latest public update we found came on April 7, 2026, from the Collin County Journal. It reported that city CDC and EDC records showed an amended ground-lease action tied to the project in early 2026, and it repeated the original timeline without confirming a start. An amended lease suggests the deal is still being worked on. It doesn't tell anyone when construction begins, and an early 2027 opening depends on a construction start that hasn't been publicly confirmed.
The city has kept working on downtown in other ways. In July, Anna Community Library at 111 W. 5th St. hosted a public presentation of the Downtown Anna branding survey results on July 8. The EDC also advertised a Downtown Marketing Map presentation there on July 15. That's groundwork for a district identity. The restaurants themselves are still waiting on a public construction start, so we'd treat "early 2027" as a goal, not a forecast.
What Actually Opened in 2026 Is on White Street
The openings people could walk into this year didn't come from either of the big projects. They're on West White Street.
Braum's is open at 1340 West White St. Its store page announces an opening on March 17, and the Anna EDC's April 2026 newsletter lists it as "NOW OPEN." The store page doesn't give a year, but the April newsletter confirms it was open by spring 2026.
The Avenue Sports Grill, which the EDC also calls 2nd Avenue Sports Grill, appeared as "NOW OPEN" in the March 2026 EDC newsletter at 620 W. White St., Suite 100. The April issue welcomed it as one of Anna's new restaurants.
Both are single storefronts that opened without much advance notice. Each was announced and opened within the same year, which is a different pattern from the multi-year Rosamond projects.
Every Announced Date, Sorted by How Solid It Is
Here's where each named project stood as of early October 2026, grouped by the strongest public evidence available.
| Project | Location | Status | Next public date |

| Finley Park | SE corner, Finley Blvd & Leonard Ave | State filing | Completion listed July 30, 2027 |
Smalls Sliders was scheduled to start construction in late August, with a target completion of January 2027. The franchisee hasn't publicly confirmed an opening. Bahama Buck's is the only food spot on the list whose franchisees confirmed an opening season, spring 2027, according to WhatNow. Finley Park appears in a state accessibility filing with a June 1, 2026 start and a July 30, 2027 completion. Its listed scope includes playgrounds, a pavilion, trails and a dog park, so that is a summer 2027 project too.
Most of the openings on this list land in 2027. Bahama Buck's is targeting spring, Finley Park's listed completion is in July, and Sprouts' target completion is in late September. The Rosamond Town Center tenants could come in around the same time, since construction there started early.
This Month's Dates Are Already Set
The calendar for the rest of October is firm, and none of it depends on construction.
- Boo Bash, Saturday, Oct. 17, noon to 4 p.m., Slayter Creek Park, 425 W. Rosamond Pkwy. This free Greater Anna Chamber event lists 100+ vendors and food trucks, a costume contest and inflatables. Details are on the Greater Anna Chamber event page.
- Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off, Saturday, Oct. 24, 8 a.m. to noon, Anna Municipal Plaza, 120 W. 7th St. It's free for Anna residents, and proof of residency is required, according to the City of Anna notice.
- Haunt the Halls, Friday, Oct. 30, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., at City Hall and Anna Community Library, 111 W. 5th St. Free.
Boo Bash happens on Rosamond Parkway, the same road where Sprouts plans to start construction about seven weeks later.
Over the next year, the Rosamond corridor will change what's within a short drive for Anna households, and it can affect how buyers and sellers look at nearby homes.
